FORT COLLINS, CO – The steady outreach from Postseason WNIT officials to hundreds of NCAA D-I women’s basketball programs throughout the 2021-22 season will reach its conclusion late on March 13, when the tournament will announce its 64-team field after the NCAA Tournament makes its selections earlier that evening.
Officials with the Postseason WNIT will release the 64-team field after the NCAA Tournament bracket is fully released on Sunday, March 13, approximately 9 p.m. ET. Locations, matchups and start times for WNIT Round 1 games and the full bracket will be announced by 2 p.m. ET on Monday, March 14. Games are played at individual schools. Here's the schedule for the 2022 event: Selection - Sunday, March 13 Round 1 - March 16-18 Round 2 - March 19-22 Round 3 - March 23-26 Quarterfinals - March 26-28 Semifinals - March 30-31 Championship - Saturday, April 2 (broadcast by CBS Sports Network) This year’s event marks the return of the standard 64-team field. In 2021, the tournament was held at four separate regionals – in the championship game, Rice defeated Ole Miss, 71-58, in Memphis, TN. Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia – it’s a staggering mix of locations and competitive fire that will make the 13th annual event a shining highlight for anyone’s fastpitch season. Get there in time for our Opening Ceremonies on July 19, the same day as our 14u Grand Strand Camp powered by the coaching staff of the Coastal Carolina softball program. College camps, all-star, all-academic games fill the menuTerrific competition awaits the 1,000 teams heading to the Colorado 4th of July fastpitch event, but players can do even more to sharpen their skills by registering for one of our college camps or our many showcase game opportunities. Three sessions with 31 different camps are in play for College Camp Sunday, June 26 at the Aurora Sports Park. Each camper gets a four-hour window to get shoulder-to-shoulder with accomplished coaches from DI powerhouses to high academic programs through JUCO strongholds and everything in between. It’s a wide range of athletic and academic profiles to consider, so scope the list and get registered before you miss out! We follow that up with Elite College Camp Monday, from 8 a.m.-noon on June 27 at the same location (Note: Florida State camp is 5-9 p.m.). We feature 11 high-achieving NCAA DI programs that will put you under the microscope, offering support and encouragement as well as a critical eye to guide you toward improvement. Sprinkled throughout the 4th of July event are SHOWCASE GAMES watched carefully by college coaches who are looking to fill the holes in their roster. These are broken down into specific age groups, along with a cluster of games that cater to high-academic college settings. All of them are coached on the field by NAIA/JUCO coaches contracted by TCS. Players can count on dedicated innings at their primary position, and a chance to make new friends going through the same experiences, with hundreds of college programs on location. The All-Academic Showcase games are comprised of 2022, 2023 and 2024 graduates who are academically successful. These games are designed for players seeking to be recruited by high-academic universities and colleges. Players invited to these games provide an application and an unofficial transcript. The trip to Colorado 4th of July is not only a blast in the moment – it can lead you to relationships and personal growth that make a difference for years to come!
